Explore and tailor your data with MapVision

Once you have the data you need in MapVision, it offers an intuitive interface to help you to explore, interrogate, and tailor your data to change it from a collection of location data to a source of geographical intelligence. Designed as a “light” GIS to work within a web-browser, MapVision still incorporates the most commonly used, and most valuable, Geographic Information System tools.

Intuitive map navigation

Pan and zoom around maps and quickly switch layers on and off in order to see how the different layers of data interact. You can set display scales on the zoom bar so that certain data is only displayed at certain scales if, for example, you’d like to see branch catchments at national level but individual agent catchments at a regional level. In this way, you can view as much or as little data in one view as you need to make effective business decisions. Click on objects on the map to see their attributes in pop ups.

Make changes from the map view

When you start to navigate your data, you may want to edit or make changes to evaluate the impact of key business decisions. You can also define new territories or catchments by:

  • Manually selecting postcode sectors on the map
  • Defining a fixed-distance radius from a central point
  • Setting a maximum travel time or travel distance from a given origin point

The final feature makes use of our TimeTravel drive time data to allow you to do this for peak, off-peak or HGV travel times. All of these features allow you to edit your sales or distribution network, test the impact of changes, and make it as efficient as possible.

Tailor maps for your audience

Once you have the data you need, you can tailor the map to make it suitable for your audience, whether it is a colleague, contractor, stakeholder or client. Colours, fonts and icons can be changed to match your brand or any style of your choice. Keep all layers visible if you are sharing your project for online collaboration with a colleague, or display only key data on a map if it is to support a business decision amongst project stakeholders.

Now that you are happy with your data, you are ready to share it. This can be for further online collaboration with colleagues or contractors, or to formally present it to stakeholders or clients. All of this is easy thanks to MapVision’s web interface.
