JICREG (Joint Industry Committee for Regional Press Research) readership data has revolutionised how regional and local press advertising is planned, bought and sold. It has become the main currency used by advertisers, agencies, regional press publishers and their sales houses. No other medium matches the regional press’s ability to target advertising geographically, but doing this well has always been a skilled and time consuming job for media planners.

The new mapping system, built using MapVision web:mapper technology, can take hours off planning and presentation times.

Anyone, including potential advertisers and their agencies can now get free maps of regional newspaper circulation areas and over 1,000 maps are requested each week.

The system also provides a lot more functionality to JICREG mapping subscribers. They can create drive time and drive distance catchments. Produce maps showing comparisons of any catchment area, regional newspaper circulation areas and radio and TV coverage. Readership penetration of regional press titles for a range of demographics can also be added to these maps.

Both free and subscriber maps can be edited and animated in PowerPoint. Beacon Dodsworth have also written some PowerPoint macros which group related objects together to make it quicker to edit and animate the maps.
